Purpose
This blog is intended to create a buzz around the issue of homelessness in Pottstown and beyond.
Prompted by a three-part editorial series published in The Mercury newspaper between March 4 and 6, 2007, this is an on-going conversation which will hopefully generate action within the community.

It is really great how you shed some light on this serious problem in the community. Although not everyone who is homeless has a mental health or drug and acohol problem, some no doubt do. The local provider of mental health and/or drug and alcohol treatment is Creative Health. Did you know that the burough council is seeking to make it even harder for area residents to get the help they need by secretly selling the parking lot next to Creative Health? Did you know that the burough wants organizations who help people with problems to move out of town because the councli believes that if there was not help available, there would not be people who need help? Wouldn't it be great if some of the people you met who need help were encouraged by their community leadership to get better?
Are you serious about that? Is this public knowledge about what the council is doing?
read between the lines (and the mayor's remarks at monday's council meeting) about the pending sale of the lessig lot and it becomes clear.
